Comments from Mom

I was paid a wonderful compliment today, thank you Karen....

Walt's foster mom feels like she may have worried too much about Walt, she thinks Walt looks he's always been a part of our family.  Reading those words just makes me so happy.  It sure feels like Walt has been a part of us forever!

It seems we get caught up in day to day life and the story of it just becomes mundane and fairly routine, but I know there are some folks out there that are concerned about Walt's well being and happiness.  As the weather here in North Carolina becomes warmer and Walt takes new adventures to see the ocean and explore the fresh scents of spring, he'll be here to post his regular updates.

If you read this and are ever just curious or want to say hello, feel free to send him a comment or email.  I'll pass it along.

As for the other Hutchins' pets, they're all doing great too.  Here are some recent photos you may enjoy!!!

Thanks for checking in.

Waaaalter....and friends

You know it can be tough being a new member of a pack.  I wasn't sure what to expect, and since I met mom first, and it was essentially love at first sight, I felt pretty sure it was going to be okay...then I had my moments.  I arrived at my new home with house guests.  Some cats showed their faces and introduced themselves, and then the house guests left. Mom went back to work. This big guy I call Dad was showing up in the middle of my nap and I had to get off my comfy chair and go outside.  I just couldn't get a routine down for days and days.....

Jack and I saying "have a good day Mom"

....now, finally I think I'm in a normal routine. Mom has gone back to work...dad is working his usual schedule and I'm learning what it's like to hang out with the frenchies, share sniffs and grunts with the Siberians during the day, and rest and relax like in a style in which I've become accustom.

Then night comes, dad and mom return from work. I race circles around the yard with Deuce and Jack, have a great dinner, some more running figure 8's, playing tug of war, and hearing "Waaaalter" being called when mom can't see me in the bushes.  Life is good!  :)

When it's time to unwind here is my happy place!!!
Dad's lap is awesome.

One on one...

...Actually it was one on two.  No photos tonight cuz mom didn't want pictures of her in her jammies. I just had a great time with mom and dad though...one on one or like i mentioned one on two.

Dad and mom feel its pretty important to get to know me as an individual so they had me in their laps all by myself for about thirty minutes.  Don't get me wrong, I love my siblings, but private back scratches, behind the ear rubs and playing with my feet is pretty much paradise in my book.

Jack, Chilly and Deuce are calling my name now, so I have to run but I've just had a great night hanging out with parents.  Who knew old folks could be so attentive?

talk to you all later, Walt

Settling In

Cozy on my new blanket

I just want to come up and see you Dad.
With the holidays and travel schedule behind me now, I've been settling in to my new home and family.  A great secret santa from FBRN sent me to my forever home with this new blanket that I just love. I'm a good little brother, too, because I share it with Jack.

My older brother Deuce has expressed some jelousy about my being here, but mom is teaching him that she has plenty of love to share and go around.

Let's play!!!

Jack and I enjoy wrestling, it's really how we unwind from our day of leisure.  Last night we got Chilly involved with it and she loved it. She pretends to not like it but comes back for more, so I know better.

Mom and dad are returning to their normal work schedules which leaves me with the dogs and cats, but so far it is working out just great.  Dad will have a short work week again next week which means he and I have more wrestling time together.  Dad thinks its cute that when he comes home we never leave the couch but when we all hear mom's car come home, we jump up to meet her at the door.  I try to let him know it's not that we love her more, its just that he comes home during our nap time.

You'll have to excuse me now. Jack is requesting my presence in a game of tug of war and I don't want to miss it.   Keep checkin' back. One of us is bound to have something to write about soon!

Walking with Dogs

Deuce here, trying to get a word in edge wise is like trying to get a space or small corner on mom's lap now.  Well, lets just say that Walt is making his place at home and I'm trying everything I can to tell him I'm the older brother.  Squeezing a moment in on this blog now that he is here is like getting a minute with mom alone, or on her lap.  You have to know amongst the dogs, I'm her favorite, but shhhhh, I didn't say that.
So on New Year's day we make the rounds.   You know Chilly is a little slower paced than the rest of us, so dad has the siberians - runners that they are - and mom has four frenchies - that includes Walt, Chilly, Jack and I  - making an adventure around the neighborhood. We are quite the site to be had let me tell you. Anyway, we got our much needed excercise (mom's need - we all had to suffer through it), and came home and got some rest.

Mom thought her lap was big enough for all of us, but she is sadly mistaken.  Have you seen Walt?  He's huge!!! Anyway, he's fitting in with the rest of us quite nicely as a matter of fact.  I really like having him around....SHHHHH don't tell him I said so.

Deuce, signing out....if he allows me to, I'll try to get in mom's lap for typing to you all again soon!

Walt update

It's been an interesting first week here in North Carolina with my new brothers, sisters and parents.  Mom woke me early on Monday to explain I had another road trip. Although it was short, I'm not fond of parking lots, moving cars and the like. This trip was a good one though. Mom introduced me to my new doctor.  I don't know about you, but finding the right care giver is really important.  I want my health needs met, but it's really important to get positive feed back, back rubs and good ol' fashioned attention from the doctor and the staff.  Let me tell you that I was not short changed on any of the above.  I waltz in their like I know the place, all stoic and confident and Shannon greets me like they know me. Come to find out, she knows and loves Deuce, Jack and Chilly.  Shannon says she wants a Frenchie just like me. Of course, who doesn't.  Doc gives me the once over and says I look great.  She doesn't change much about my diet, heart worm treatment or bathing, and says to come back in the summer to update my vaccines and I'm good to go.  Well someone in the back knows dad so she had to come see the new Hutchins.  She congratulates mom and loves all over me.  This makes me feel special and I'm all about the humans givin' some TLC.

After the vet mom gave me some yummy treats and a warm bath.  Again, not my favorite thing in life, but some alone one on one time with mom is special too.

Mom and Dad had to go back to work today so it was the first full day at home with the fur friends.  Dad was so impressed when he came home and everything was just as he left it.

Pictures will be posted in a few days. I've lapped out the figure 8 track in the yard that Jack likes so well and created a new track in the house that Deuce and Jack are learning.

So far I'm enjoying these NC days....

I'll be back soon, hope you are too!

Walt "Walllllllter" is what dad calls me!!!
