Cheers, to the end of 2011 and a toast to new beginnings

It has been a fun and some times out of the ordinary time for us Hutchins dogs.  This year we got to see more of our cousin Xander because he spent a month with us in the summer while his mom and dad were down under.  Our human sister adopted a little girl named Nymph and we got to meet her and become better acquainted after she and her big sisters spent a week with us at Christmas.  Just after Christmas mom and dad brought home our new brother Walt and in January we expect another cousin - Chanel and Brittany are adding to the family with a rescue from Greenville.

Here are some pictures to sum up our 2011....hope you enjoy!

Welcome Walt Wizney

Day one, after long trip from Missouri, I've made it to North Carolina
Thursday, December 29, 2011 - mom took day off to help me adjust
I'm getting comfortable and better acquainted with Chilly and Jack

My name is Walt Wizney....Mom especially likes that I'm Walt cuz she has some special humans in her life named Walter.   I'm a special boy, having spent my early years in Missouri, I made a road trip with my foster mom to North Carolina and as fate would have it, there is where my new mom met me.  I was recovering from mange and was heavily medicated when mom and I first met, but she fell in love with me on sight and I have to admit, I was pretty smitten with her too.  After mom and her friend Beth left with my friend Jaggers, I was quite lonely in North Carolina.  Foster mom Karen and her daughter Erin kept me as content and happy as possible under circumstance. You know, at that time I was a member of the French Bulldog Rescue Network Clan.  I was not available for adoption because I had not been neutered or completed healed from the mange.

Weeks passed and I returned with my foster mom to Missouri, where I completed my treatment and got myself fixed....for those of you that don't know - I can't have babies.  That's the responsible adult dog thnig to do!  I recommend spay and neuter folks.  It will save a lot of unwanted pets from tragedy.

Anyway, a couple of months went by and FBRN was able to advertise me as "available".  I hit the market with a bang, and my mom put in an application, asking all of her friends to send silent prayers, positive thoughts and good energy - but mom wouldn't tell anybody why.  Mom said she hoped to have a life changing experience. I bet her friends thought she was going through the 'change'  - LOL!!!

Karen called mom one day and said "You're approved"!!! That meant I was going to my forever home.  Karen and mom agreed that coming to my forever home at Christmas would be too much stress, and nobody wished me a relapse, so they agreed on a road trip on Dec. 26.  Mom met Karen in Knoxville, TN with Karen's son Kevin.  I hated to say good-bye to Kevin and all of the friends I made at Karen's but I put on a tough front and loaded in the back seat of this strange vehicle for a long 6 hour drive to Fayetteville.

When I arrived in Fayetteville I was glad to smell some scents I was familiar with and meet up with Elliot the cat that I recalled and knew so well from my previous month stay.  It was good to be on carpet that I could sink my paws into and relax.  That night mom carried me to bed and I was a little nervous but it all turned out okay.  When I needed Karen in the middle of the night she was there for me...and it felt so secure and great, that the next days travel didn't feel so bad.

On December 27 foster mom packed my goody bag with my new toys and loaded me up into mom's car and we headed to coastal North Carolina where I will spend my life with my new brothers and sisters, lots of cousins and some cats.  YIPPIE!!!

Here is where I'll share my stories and keep everyone up to date.  You have to excuse the name of the blog, Chilly and Deuce have agreed to share it with Jack and I - and the Siberians- and the cats - to tell our story of life in the Hutchins of New Bern household.  We're pretty happy campers and every day (at least for the next few) will be filled with new adventures and fun times while I get settled in here.

Happy new year to you all!!  2012 looks like it's filled with promise.  Mom is so excited and my dad, Earl -let's just say I put a smile on his face. I understand that's saying a lot!!!

Talk to you soon. Hope you'll stay tuned cuz this is kind of fun, fillin' ya'll in  - hey sounds like I've picked up the southern drawl already, huh Darlin's?

Take it easy!

Happy New Year

Nakita, Lucas, Jack, Deuce and I welcomed a new family member just after Christmas.  This is Walt.  We are all very happy to have him.  He arrived in time to meet our cousins Jasmine, Nymph and Sugar too cuz mom and dad are pet sitting while Mistie and Brandon are on vacation.

It was a fun Christmas at our house and we look forward to many good times with Walt by our side in 2012!

Happy New Year,

Chilly
