Busy Summer

It has been somewhat of a busy summer in the Hutchins' house. Our parents have fostered a little girl named Uma, pictured above in the garden. She is learning about life outside of a crate and is warming up to us all pretty quickly.
It's been hot for us four legged friends outside, so here we are (Deuce, Jack and Chilly) wrestling on mom's bed.
And in Alex's arms is our new cousin, Mouse. He's a ball-python that our sister Mistie bought recently. Mouse came over for Sydney's Welcome Home. The Marines and Sailors were out for some training and taking care of America and Syd was part of that adventure. He was glad to be home. Xander and Tonka were here to play and we liked that. Jack loves to run around the yard when Tonka comes to visit.
We sure hope this summer has been filled with laughs and much love for you too. Come back and check on us soon. I'm sure there will be more activity in the near future.

Jack

a night at home

For Humans a Home is where they lay their hat. For us its a place where we feel loved and special and we can have a great time being free!!!

This is Xander in his new home in Cary. He moved back in with his mom and Tonka awaiting dad's return from the MEU.

Sometimes it's just about saving an animal

a big applause to the team of volunteers that have worked so hard to save this beautiful boy. His owner felt life was too much and committed suicide leaving Blaze and his pal alone in a yard. Some great folks brought them both into a vet clinic in Morehead City, NC where the clinic took great care of the medical needs and attempted to find homes. Unsuccessful after a year, the clinic turned to Pet Harbour, a rescue in the OuterBanks and Blaze will be fostered until he finds a forever home. Thanks to volunteers at the clinic, volunteers with Southern Siberian Rescue and some Pet Harbour volunteers this guy is being transported to foster care.
I, myself, find it rewarding to foster but am not always available to do so. Transporting to helping save an animal is rewarding too! Good luck to you Blaze. You're new owner is going to get quite the catch with you. One of the best mannered Huskies I've met.

Uma

We've all been introduced to Uma and things are going well. She likes to play with me and follow me around the yard. Chilly isn't too fond of having another female around so they keep their distance from each other and big boy Deuce doesn't like sharing mom's attention so he kind of leaves Uma alone so he can be close to mom.
Big Sis, Nakita, had to see the doc on Friday. dad took her in cuz she quit waggin' her tail and didn't want to take a walk in the morning. We are all relieved to know it's not serious, just some inflamation in the joints. She's taking Motrin and is feeling much better already.
Xander went for his yearly. Is that like a human yearly? He didn't have to cough for the vet cuz those things have been taken off, LOL, but he got a rave review for having lost over 15 pounds and he looks marvelous!!!
Lucas is still a crabby butt. Howling and singing and taking all of the little guys toys, but we like having him around. Dad says he's diggin' a hole in the backyard again, so we figure he'd make a good landscaper.
We're just hanging out here enjoying the summer days in North Carolina. Thank goodness they have cooled down some since late June when it was over 100. Mom didn't take us out much then.
Come back to check on us soon. Hopefully we'll have more adventures to share.

Happy Summer

It has been a wonderful start to summer here in North Carolina. A bit hot outside for our taste but the air conditioning vents inside are on the floor which are nice to sit upon when it's time to cool down.
One early evening we ventured to the water bowl on the front porch and found a guest taking a swim. Chilly wanted to have it as a snack, but I would not let her. I'm the protective one so I just had to take a sneak peak and a little sniff and then let the toad go.
Pictured here is our new household guest. Her name is Uma and she flew in from Missouri. She's made herself cozy and comfortable in dad's arms. We have not personally been introduced yet but when I prance around her crate she gets a little disturbed. I'm a little energetic sometimes so mom probably won't be letting me out with her too soon or too often. Mom's the boss, but it's kind of disappointing that I can't welcome Uma like I want to....
Keep your eyes open and check in often, it looks like it will be an active summer for us! Hope you're in for some summer lovin' and lots of fun too!

Another foster

It's time to bring in another foster. This one is for French Bulldog rescue. Her name is Uma. She'll be flying in from Missouri, courtesy of Jack's foster mom and dad, (she's coming out with Jeff) and Alex is going to assist in bringing her here.

We haven't learned much about her except that she has a bad case of worms :( YUK!

Welcome Uma and hope you have a happy trail ahead.

The birds and the bees

...and the butterflies are my new favorite things. Summer is upon us in NC and I'm loving what has come to life since the spring. I'm chasing birds, sitting in clover with yellow and black bees and trying to catch butterflies....mom laughs cuz I haven't had any luck yet.

As for the English, mom and dad said we have to wait. Timing isn't right. Cousin Xander came back to stay with us for a few months, so for now, we're a happy pack just the six of us.

Happy summer lovin'
