Daytona 250

We're running the races of all races and having a great time here in North Carolina. The sun has been shining and we are lovin' life hangin' out in the sun outside and tearing things up when we come inside.

Not too long ago our cousin Xander went to stay with our human sister, Alex. So far she hasn't brought him back. It has made things a lot quieter around here but we miss him :(. Reports have it that Alex is talking with some behavior specialist because Xander likes to trap Alex's roommate in the room and isn't too friendly to visitors. Way to go Alex for keeping the big guy in check.

Around here we celebrated something called Easter. Mom told us the Easter bunny came early and all we know is we had new stuffies, new bones, more toys and lots of cool tasting treat. I hope the bunny comes out more often.

Mom sat us down for a little talking too about a new member of the pack too. She explained that as much as she loves us, she wants to share her heart with an English Bulldog so we're on the look out. We think it would be a lot of fun.

Hope you enjoyed your visit. Here are a few recent pictures. We don't change in style much but we are a bunch of hams when the camera comes out.

TTYL.

Spay, Neuter and Microchip

On February 24, 2010 I underwent my first surgery, hopefully the only one Iwill ever need. Mom and I made a road trip to Raleigh, North Carolina to the Saving Lives Spay and Neuter clinic where I was Neutered and microchipped. Some may wonder why mom didn't take me to the neighborhood vet and that was for cost saving purposes as well as a good excuse for me to visit my cousin Tonka. I'm here to tell you, and pictures show, that having surgery didn't slow me down. The procedure didn't last long but the benefits will last a life time. Being neutered means I can not help continue the growing population of homeless dogs and puppies, and with the microchip, if I ever leave home and can't find my way back, I can now be scanned and mom's phone number will be called so I'll never be without her.
I would like to recommend these procedures to all of my feline and canine friends. It hasn't slowed me down and I understand it was for a good cause.

Snow Dogs, NC style

New Bern, North Carolina had its first snow fall for 2010 on February 13, 2010 and it was the largest accumulation the town has experienced in years.
Jack and Deuce didn't mind it but didn't quite know what to think. Chilly doesn't like the cold, won't put her feet in the snow and just was miserable.
Nakita, Xander and Lucas looked like they had the dog version of cat nip. Nakita enjoyed it by far the most digging around for treats and rolling all over in it. Made for some happy Siberians!

The passing of a good friend

02/12/2010 we lost a dear friend and family member. Max was a "shelter" dog that dad volunteered to transport and it was a day that Mistie didn't have school so she offered to help. The plan was that mom and dad would foster this escape artist until SSR could find him a good home.
Not much was known about Max when he came into our lives. He had chewed through enough wire fences and crates that he had few teeth left in his mouth. He wasn't like the resident Siberians that enjoyed a "den". He hated being confined. The first night in the house he jumped over the kitchen gate and landed himself in Mistie's bed. That's where he spent his nights unless Mistie wasn't home. When she spent the night out he paced in front of the front door all night until she returned. It was tough for him when she was hospitalized and spent three nights and then five nights away from him.
He would run away from home and Mistie spent endless hours searching the neighborhood for him, to find out he'd be on the front porch or with a neighbor until she returned home. And he greeted her like there was no worries.
Mistie introduced him as her son to her school friends and teachers. People thought she'd given birth to this dog herself. When Brandon came along Mistie told him that Max came first in her life, and she never faultered from that. (THANK GOD BRANDON IS WITH HER TODAY).
Well, just as always, when Mistie was out at night, Max paced the front door awaiting her, but this time he could wait no longer. He passed at the door and she found him when she returned home last night.

Rest in peace good friend. You'll be missed. Your cousins, Lucas, Nakita, Xander, Jack, Chilly & Deuce, plus grandma and grandpa

Sorry it's been awhile

Well, it sure has been a little while since we've been able to sneak in and update you on our life's happenings. Mom is busy playing this game called Farmville so she monopolizes the computer quite a bit.

We hope you've had a good start to the new year. Ours has been pretty nice, until this morning. Our big brother Lucas had to go to the vet because he has a "hot spot" on the side of his face. He is wearing this silly thing that dad calls a cone, and now I (Deuce) can't go pal around with him for a few days :(.

Other than that, life's been okay. Mom brought home another cat. His name is Bob. Can't say what he looks like cuz since mom let him out of his crate he ran upstairs to hide.

Jack, Chilly and I are really enjoying life in NC. We noticed some of our friends have had a snow filled winter but we faired pretty well. It was cold enough for sweatshirts for about a week, but we're back to playing outside without any clothes. That's the way we prefer it really.

Pictured here is dad, Jack blends in against dad's shirt, but trust me he's in there, Chilly and I. We are getting treats, which is one of our favorite activities.

I'll try to get mom off the computer soon so I can squeeze in here to post a note. In the meanwhile stay well and hug your humans. They love it. Throw in a kiss and that makes their day.
